"With 11 years experience in a periodontal practice and 7 years working with the PerioWise probe, I recommend it highly. I could not and would not effectively work without PerioWise probes"
Gail Goldberg, RDH Portsmouth, NH

" I have been a dental hygienist for 18 years and currently work for a periodontist. For the past two years I have been using the PerioWise probe. The PerioWise probe is an instrument I cannot do without and I highly recommend it as a resourceful tool."
Diane Kelly, RDH Tampa, FL.
"The Friendly Probe"
Dentists/Hygienists
The detection of periodontal diseases has far reaching implications for our patients and our practices now that they are considered risk factors for cardiovascular and possibly for pre-term low birthweight babies. Periodontal diseases also adversely affect blood glucose regulation in diabetics. They remain a primary cause of halitosis and the chief cause of tooth loss in adults. Tooth loss frequently results in impaired chewing, speaking, an unpleasing smile and occlusal problems. These reasons make the early detection of periodontal diseases more important than ever. It is hoped that PerioWise probes and the PerioWise Screening System will help all dental professionals more easily detect and educate their patients about periodontal diseases.

PerioWise probes are thrice patented for their flexible tip, tip design and color-coding and were named "The Friendly Probe"® because they are indeed user and patient friendly.

PerioWise probes have received the American Dental Association Seal of Acceptance. Their patented, multi-colored tips are extremely easy to read and gentle to the tissue. The slightly flexible rounded tip (.5mm.) offers greater patient comfort and make the probes safe to use around dental implants. They can be repeatedly autoclaved, Chemiclaved or dry heat sterilized and reused. PerioWise probes are ideal for a complete periodontal examination or for a PerioWise Screening. A green mark from 0-3mm. on all PerioWise probes is the unique and patented feature that instantly shows whether or not disease is present. If there is bleeding and the green mark is still visible the diagnosis is gingivitis. Readings in the probe's red marking zones indicate more advanced periodontal breakdown. PerioWise probes eliminate the most frustrating part of periodontal probing-poor readability. At a glance you can quickly determine the depth of the pocket. The universally understood color-coding of green and red creates a common language with the patient and enhances patient education.

PerioWise probes have been independently studied and tested. Studies were conducted at The University of Buffalo, by The Dental Advisor Plus and in a United States Government Dental Investigative Study, (which may not be referenced for promotional purposes). PerioWise probes also received an unsolicited recommendation in Dental Economics.
The conclusions of the studies, in summary are that PerioWise probes offer;
1. Superior readability
2. Faster readings
3. Safe use when probing implants
4. Improved patient comfort
5. Sterilizability (autoclave, Chemiclave or dry heat)
6. Economy
7. Excellent patient education methods
8. Accuracy to .1mm
PerioWise probes are available in two calibrations for individual dentist and hygienist preferences. The color-coded calibrations form the basis of the NEW PerioWise Screening System. Probe Calibrations

Patient Education Guide
A very helpful, laminated patient education guide is available for use chairside.
To enhance patient understanding and compliance, when disease is present, it is recommended that the patient be shown the difference between a healthy site and a diseased site in his or her mouth. A good way to do this is to show the clinical pictures of Health, Gingivitis and Periodontitis to the patient using the Education Guide as a reference. Then, with the patient observing, using a hand mirror or intraoral camera, place a PerioWise probe first in a few healthy sites and then in a diseased site(s) for comparison. When the patient actually sees the green mark disappear between the tooth and the gingiva or sees bleeding, there is an instant recognition that there is a periodontal problem. Implants
It is recommended that implants not be probed with metal probes because of injury to the junctional epithelium and the risk of scratching the surface of the implant or abutment thus making them more plaque retentive and prone to peri-implantitis. With modern restorative dentistry an examiner may not know whether an implant or tooth is being probed. By always using PerioWise probes you never have to be concerned about damaging implants. Here's an example.

New & Used After dozens of uses, the non-toxic, FDA approved coloring on the tip of the probe gradually wears away. At some point it will be time to replace the probe, but not before the probe has earned its value!
PerioWise probes are manufactured and distributed by Premier Dental Products Company. The probes are available from your dental dealer in "six-packs", in the calibration of your choice. There is always a money back, satisfaction guarantee, on all PerioWise probes. Try them!
