Improved Diagnostics: Clinical Evaluation of a Color-Coded,
Polymeric Periodontal Probe
 Results of a

No. 4; July/August 1992 ABSTRACT: The objective of this study was to
compare the accuracy, reproducibility and patient comfort of a newly designed,
color-coded, polymeric periodontal probe to a traditional, color-coded metal
probe. SUMMARY RESULTS: These results provide the practitioner with
the basis for selecting the plastic probe for its comparability to a clinically
accepted control with respect to accuracy of clinical measurements and for
consistency in obtaining these measures over time. In addition, other
user-friendly attributes such as increased patient comfort, color coding, ease
of manipulation, safe use around implants and sterilability add to its
attractiveness as an instrument to be utilized routinely to deliver
comprehensive dental treatment of the highest quality.
