"Since I have always taken full
periodontal records, including pocket measurements on all patients, I thought a
screening system had no place in my practice. But with The PerioWise Screening
System we can satisfy the same diagnostic needs for many of our patients in
less time, with less aggravation for the patient" Bob Christian

The New and
Simple PerioWise® Screening System! All you have to remember is
"green-go" and "red-stop". That's it! |
|
RATIONALE The primary purpose of a periodontal
screening system is to identify those individuals who have periodontal disease.
A screening system should be accurate, effective, fast, simple to use, easy to
understand and require a minimum of writing. It should also provide excellent
documentation, which will enhance risk management. |
| A screening
system should include patient education, which helps improve patient acceptance
of care and compliance. It should also enable the patient to quickly find out
his or her periodontal status as recommended by the American Academy of
Periodontology. The medical, dental and financial consequences of periodontal
diseases make its early detection more important than ever. |
 |
|
Responsible
patient care requires that all dental practices establish a periodontal
screening system that facilitates the early detection of periodontal diseases
simply and effectively. If a concise and practical system is lacking, the
result can be delayed or inadequate periodontal care. The issue of clinicians'
"failure to diagnose" problem was addressed by The American Academy of
Periodontology, who released the following statements on periodontal disease
detection. To the Profession "All patients must be screened
for the presence of periodontal diseases on a regular basis. When periodontal
diseases are detected, a comprehensive charting record must be completed and
effective treatment should be rendered promptly." To the
Consumer "The American Academy of Periodontology recommends that all
patients be screened for periodontal diseases on a regular basis." And
"Patients should be informed of the state of their periodontal health at every
examination." The new PerioWise Screening
System addresses these recommendations in a very effective manner. This unique
clinician and patient friendly screening system is now available to the
profession. The system offers speed, accuracy, simplicity and reliability. The
PerioWise Screening System does not require remembering any codes or numbers
and only one probe is needed either for a screening or for a complete
periodontal examination. The universally understood color-coding of
green and red
is the basis of the system and creates a common language with the patient, that
of color. All you have to remember is "green-go" and "red-stop". That's it! Patients understand color much
more easily than they do "pocket depths" or "millimeter measurements". The
universal color-coding greatly enhances patient communication that in turn
improves patient compliance and acceptance of treatment. There is
virtually no writing to do other than a few check marks on two
easy to use forms. The PerioWise system incorporates patient education into its
format, simplifies record keeping and improves risk management. The patient
receives a "take home" screening report that shows their periodontal status,
recommendations for care and contains important information about periodontal
disease. |

All Periowise
probes have a unique and patented color-coding in which the first three
millimeters (3mm.) are colored green. This green band forms the basis for both
the screening system and for patient education. |
